Yoga before bed can lead to a more restful sleep. By taking a few moments before you hit the hay to calm your body and mind you will slip into slumber quicker and easier. Say ‘so long’ to tossing and turning by taking 15 minutes to find each pose listed below. Slow your breath, clear your mind, and prepare for a sweet, restful sleep.
- Child’s pose
- Bring your big toes together, open your knees wide/Walk your fingertips forwards
- Stay for at least 10 breaths
- Lizard pose
- Allow the back of your foot to rest on the floor/Relax your neck and shoulders
- Repeat on other side
- Stay for at least 10 breaths
- Reclined Hero’s Pose
- Keep your knees together and grounded in to the floor/Place a block/pillow along your spine to open your heart
- Stay for at least 10 breaths
- Seated Forward Fold
- Send your hips behind you. Open your heart toward your feet
- Stay for at least 10 breaths
- Supported Reclined Twist
- Place a pillow between your knees/Keep both shoulders grounded in to the earth
- Stay for at least 10 breaths
- Supta Baddha Konasana
- Bring the soles of your feet together/Open your knees like a book
- Stay for at least 10 breaths
- Savasana
- Face your palms towards the ceiling/Create a shelf for your heart to sit on & close down your eyes
- Stay for at least 10 breaths or until you are ready to head to bed!
